About Home Grown PC Repair

My name is Derrick Gingerich, and I live in Stuarts Draft, VA, with my wife, Kathy, and our son, Jayson.  I was raised right here in Augusta County, and though I've travelled around the world quite a bit, there is no place like home.

I officially started Home Grown PC Repair in 2005, in order to stay home with our newborn son, but I have been working on computers in my spare time since 2000. While working full-time at McKee Foods, I was going to school part-time to complete my degree.  My wife teaches 1st grade in Waynesboro and has been doing so for 10 years now.  When our son was born, it was easier for me to leave a graveyard shift job at the plant than it would have been for Kathy to leave her job and try to get back in to the same school later.  So, in the fall of 2005, I left my job and opened Home Grown PC Repair so I could stay home with our newborn son.

Though we originally hoped that the company would just raise enough money to pay the bills, we soon discovered that there was much more of a market than we first expected.  In about 6 years, I have now serviced over 850 individuals and businesses, many of them more than once.  While I no longer remember every person by name when they call, I still strive to provide personallized service to every one of my customers.

I have gained a lot of experience over the last 11 years which has added to my Associates Degree (Information Systems Technology specializing in Computer Networking) from Blue Ridge Community College.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.8, and completed an internship with V.I.T.A. (Virginia Information Technology Agency) at Western State Hospital in Staunton, VA.  We were responsible for approximately 600 networked PC's.  Even though my "official" education is complete, I continue to constantly read and learn in order to keep up with the latest computer technology.

Home Grown PC Repair is currently run from my home in Stuarts Draft, but I can also come to your home or business for many problems.  Please give me a call if you need help with your computer, and let me show you why my business has continued to prosper, even in the midst of our current economic downturn.
