Online Data Backup

1 Year - $54, 2 Years - $104, 3 Years - $134 (2nd computer receives a 5% discount).  Home Grown PC Repair is now an authorized reseller of Carbonite Online Backup, which is one of the most recognized and reasonably priced online backup services in the world.

Hard drive failure is one of the most common problems with computers today.  Over the past several years, I have seen a decrease in the quality of today's hard drives with a much higher failure rate.  If your drive does fail, you could lose everything on your computer, including pictures, music, documents, banking information, geneology, or anything else you might consider important.  It is absolutely essential to have some kind of backup for your computer.

I personally use Carbonite, and I recommend it because it is an off-site backup, which means that even if your house burns down, your data will be safe and sound.  Carbonite automatically backs up your data whenever you make a change, which means you don't have to remember to do a daily or weekly backup, and you don't have to have your computer on at a certain time.  Carbonite takes care of it for you.

As an authorized reseller, we can now offer Carbonite at a discounted price compared to their normal offerings, and we can check the status of your updates to make sure they are working as they're supposed to.  Plus, if you buy through us, I'll help with the initial setup and make sure that everything you want is backed up.

Virus/Spyware Removal

$120 (flat fee, in my office only) -Viruses and spyware are constantly changing, with millions of new ones being created every year.  I have disinfected hundreds of PC's in the last few years, and I work very hard to stay up to date on the latest threats so I can remove the infection without losing any of your important data.  In addition to cleaning your PC, I will also update anything critical to your security and install software to help keep your computer clean.  There are lots of free programs out there to protect your PC that I typically use, but I can help you find a paid antivirus as well, if you prefer. 

I do not normally perform this service on-site because of the amount of time required to properly disinfect a computer.  If you really need it done on site, I will do it at the full hourly rate ($70 1st hour, $60/hour after that), but I will warn you that it normally takes 3-5 hours to properly clean and update a computer.

Repairs

$60/hour ($30 min.) + parts -This includes everything from repairing a corrupted Windows installation, to replacing a hard drive, power supply, CD/DVD Drive, or even a motherboard.  Maybe your Internet Explorer has stopped working, your computer freezes, or the computer won't start at all.  I can diagnose your problem and fix it quickly.  If at all possible, I will return it to you working just like it did before.  If your hard drive has failed, I will do my best to recover your data at put it back on your computer along with the new hard drive.

Upgrades

$60/hour ($30 min.) + parts -This includes installing a larger hard drive, more memory (RAM), a new CD/DVD Burner, or maybe a memory card reader for your digital camera.  The life of an older computer can often be extended with a simple upgrade.  If the cost of the upgrade isn't worth the cost, I'll let you know, so you can spend your money more wisely on a new computer.

Wired or Wireless Networking

$70 for the first hour ($70 min), $60/hour after (price of parts not included) -This includes coming to your home or business and setting up a wired or wireless network.  Most people now will opt for a wireless network, since it does not require running cables across your home to connect multiple computers, printers, game systems, etc.  I can set up your wireless router to connect multiple computers, share a printer between them, and even connect your Playstation, Wii, or X-Box to your Internet connection.  I can also set up Netflix streaming for your television.  Most simple configurations can be completed within an hour, but additional time may be needed depending on how many devices you would like to add.  I also make sure that your network is secured with a password so that neighbors and passersby cannot access your Internet connnection or computers.

Remote Assistance

$60/hour ($15 min.) -I am able to solve some problems remotely from my office, over the Internet.  If you are willing to allow me to connect to your computer remotely, I can offer service on your computer in your home at a lower price than a traditional house call.

In-Home or In-Office Assistance

$70 for the first hour ($70 min.), $60/hour after -I can provide on-site service in your home or small business.  However, because of rising transportation costs, as well as time spent driving, I do charge a little more for this service.
